First of all, you have to take I-90 and exit at either Wall (Exit 110) or Cactus Flat (Exit 131). After that, you have to follow the signs to the park entrances beside the entrance road. Then you will get to Badlands National Park by car or bike. From the major cities of Denver and Minneapolis, like Rapid City, it will take around 1 hour, and from Sioux Falls, it will take around 8 to 10 hours. However, the time depends on road and traffic conditions. Importantly, there are no public transport services to get into Badlands National Park.

Nearest airport

  • Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP) is the major airport closest to Badlands National Park. This airport is 77 miles away and takes approximately 1.5 hours by car to get into the park.
  • Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) is another nearby airport. This airport is around 260 miles away and takes approximately 4.5 hours to get into the park.
  • Denver International Airport (DEN) is 350 miles away from the park and takes approximately 6.5 hours to get into the park.
